Live ready! Self-protection for men, women and teens

Sunday,  January 13, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Anywhere Fit, Sacramento
808 R Street

This course is for everyone who could ever be exposed to violence … anyone who doesn’t  live inside a bubble. Course topics include: Tools for detecting danger and avoiding, diffusion techniques, legal and ethical considerations, effective counter-attacks, fear management and more.

Understand that anyone can protect themselves. It is not, however, through years of training in mystical martial arts, but instead from recognizing the body is a human weapon system designed to protect its user. People ask, “Can you really teach me to fight in a day?” The answer is no. But the good news is that we don’t need to. Everyone already knows how to fight. What Nor Cal Self-Defense does is teach them to manage their fears, harness their indignation, take responsibility for their own safety and Live Ready!

The class is a combination of lecture, discussion, drills and force on force scenarios where students will get to pressure test what they have learned.

Class meets Sunday,  January 13,  8:30 am – 4:30 pm at Anywhere Fit, Sacramento at 808 R Street, Sacramento, Ca. We will have an hour break for lunch.

What others are saying:

I have taken countless self-defense courses over the years. This course starts at the core of what typically keeps us from reacting, and why that occurs. Fear, like pain, is our friend, but how we process and manage it has never been discussed this thoroughly in any other course I’ve taken. So, you can learn all kinds of fancy techniques in other classes, and soon forget them because they are too technical, but more importantly, will you have the indignation it takes to ever use them if you could use them? The basic skills taught in this course never made me ask myself, “but, what if I forget that part of the move?” This course was Self Defense Made Simple. And although learning how to save your own life is a serious subject and can be emotionally draining, there was this perfect balance of lightheartedness that made it FUN!! — Stacey R.

“So I’m 5′ 2″ on a good day, and am as intimidating as a small rabbit BUT after taking this class I basically transformed into a lion. Rick Randolph is an amazing instructor and taught me how to be confident, strong, and successful in defending myself from what I used to feel were seemingly helpless situations. Truthfully, I didn’t know how unprepared I actually was up until this class… It’s not like many of us ever really had a golden opportunity to practice getting mugged… Like anything, practice makes perfect — or I guess in this case, practice means being prepared. I recommend this class to everyone – and I encourage you to recommend it to everyone that you know and love!” — Kimberly

“For me, it takes physical practice to make all my mental preparation effective. I can think about “what I would do if….” all day, but for me, thinking and doing get disconnected in stressful situations. I know I want to live and I know I’m willing to fight for my life, but this class helped me connect the dots between that mental desire and the physical movements needed to take action. I mean, why wait until the time you really need to fight for your life to figure out how to fight for your life? Why not practice those skills in a safe and encouraging environment before you need them? If you were interested in a sport like Olympic lifting, watching Olympic lifting videos all day is good preparation, but it doesn’t make you a weight lifter. You need to get your hands on the bar, do the work and make a few mistakes before you can lift successfully, let alone compete in front of a crowd. Same thing with self defense. I hope I never have to use these movements, but if I do, I feel like I’ve prepared myself as best I can for a good outcome.”  – Duffy

“I feel very empowered with the knowledge and skills I am learning weekly.  I never thought through threatening scenarios  before, I just hoped and prayed that I would never encounter them.  I now feel like I have a plan mentally and physically that will aide me if I am ever assaulted. Having that peace of mind is priceless. What a valuable and potentially life saving gift this course is to us all!” – Mariana
